Donald Trump Jr. Makes Earth-Shaking 2028 Announcement
Donald Trump Jr. says he has no plans to run for office “anytime soon,” but he isn’t ruling out a future in politics.
Speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum, he responded to a question about whether he might consider entering the political arena once his father steps aside.
In his response, he did not slam the door on the prospect, adding, “I don’t know. Maybe one day … that calling is there.”
However, Trump Jr. stressed that he’s not interested in a 2028 presidential bid — when Vice President J.D. Vance, whom he strongly recommended to his father as a running mate, is expected to glide toward the GOP nomination.
“And FWIW, I’ve always said, while I’ll never 100% rule it out down the line, I have ZERO interest in running for office in 28 or anytime soon,” he said in a portion of an X post.

“There have been two father-son pairs in U.S. history who both served as president: George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, and John Adams and John Quincy Adams,” Fox News noted.
In March, Trump Jr. responded quickly to a report claiming that he was considering a run for president in 2028 to follow in the footsteps of his term-limited father, President Donald Trump.
Citing unnamed sources, Mediaite reported that Don Jr. was actively considering vying for the GOP nomination after noting the previous month his father pointedly did not endorse his vice president as his successor, saying that it was “too early” to do so.
Many observers were surprised by Trump’s willingness to easily distance himself from his vice president, as they had expected Vance to become the heir to the MAGA movement after Trump leaves office in about four years, according to Mediaite.
However, several members of Trump’s inner circle, speaking to Mediaite on condition of anonymity, said the remarks were unsurprising and reflected the president’s intent to keep his political dynasty alive beyond his own second term.
Three high-level sources allegedly told Mediaite that Trump Jr. is seriously considering a run for the White House in 2028.
“Don has been the most politically involved of all the Trump kids and has always kept the lanes open for a presidential run,” one White House insider and close friend of the Trump family said. “He is a valued voice for his father, and a real possibility to be a contender in 2028.”
The site went on to quote “another Trump family friend.”
“One hundred percent he will run, but only for president not VP,” they said. “He is older and more experienced than JD. In about a year, real conversations will start about him running. At this point, it’s too soon, and he doesn’t want to start a battle with JD, especially since they are friends.”
However, Don Jr. swiftly refuted the report and criticized Mediaite for seemingly falling for the trick.
“I accurately predicted that my buddy JD would be an instant power player in national GOP politics, so your theory is that I worked my ass off to help get him the VP nomination because I want to run for president in 2028?” he said in a statement to the site.
“Are you f**king retarded? I’m actually glad you’re printing this bullshit though because at least now the rest of the press corps will see how shitty your ‘sources’ are and how easily you’re played by them. Congrats, moron,” he added.
