House GOP Pushes AG Pam Bondi On Fauci, Others

House conservatives are urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to be more proactive in addressing President Donald Trump’s alleged political opponents and those who went after Trump before the 2024 presidential election.

These Republicans want Dr. Anthony Fauci and New York Attorney General Letitia James imprisoned for what they see as politically motivated efforts to undermine Trump. They also want federal criminal charges brought against Democratic mayors who have provided shelter to unauthorized immigrants.

Another target is Biden administration bureaucrats, who Republicans claim waste federal taxpayer money by promoting DEI, climate change, and other leftist agendas. Several Republicans also voiced concern with Bondi’s tardy release of the Jeffrey Epstein materials.

Several House Republicans have accused Fauci of lying to Congress and covering up a government conspiracy about the origins of COVID-19.

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul is continuing his legal pursuit of Fauci, the now-retired chief of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who was the face of the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paul has accused Fauci of lying to Congress over his claim that the U.S. government never funded dangerous gain-of-function research in China, where the outbreak reportedly began.

In 2021, Fauci testified before a Senate committee where the Kentucky Republican was a member and said under oath that the U.S. “has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology” in Wuhan, China.

But in newly released emails dated February 1, 2020, the then-NIAID director wrote that “scientists in Wuhan University are known to have been working on gain-of-function experiments to determine that molecular mechanisms associated with bat viruses adapting to human infection, and the outbreak originated in Wuhan.”

While those emails do not contain smoking gun evidence of guilt, Fauci, under oath, denied that the National Institutes of Health, under which his agency fell, funded such research.

However, “the Government Accountability Office (GAO) determined last month that the Wuhan Institute of Virology and Wuhan University did receive NIH funding,” according to the UK’s Daily Mail.

In a tweet, Paul said he had referred Fauci — again — to the Department of Justice to pursue a criminal investigation for allegedly lying to Congress.

“I’ve referred Anthony Fauci to the DOJ (again) for lying to Congress when he denied the NIH was funding of gain-of-function research in Wuhan,” he wrote.

“Last week’s release of an email in which Fauci confirms that research in Wuhan was gain-of-function adds to an email where his assistants label it GoF as well. Likely nothing more conclusive than catching a liar lying with his own words!” he added.

Paul accused Fauci of lying to Congress and stated that he deserved a five-year prison sentence, particularly in light of the deaths and illnesses suffered by Americans due to the illness and Fauci’s frequently incorrect advice on how to respond to it.

An executive order that prohibits government financing for gain-of-function research was signed by President Donald Trump earlier this month, fulfilling a promise he made the previous year.

This study is considered to be at the core of the COVID-19 lab breach that occurred in Wuhan, China.

Sen. Rand Paul has spent several years going after Fauci and formally referred Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution. This was in response to Fauci’s testimony regarding his participation in gain-of-function research as conducted at the Wuhan Lab in China.

It was stated in March that the Trump administration has undertaken a renewed effort to investigate the origins of COVID-19. This effort is intended to uncover the cause of the virus.
