Minn. Officials Make New Announcement About Alleged Shooter’s ‘Manifesto’

Minnesota authorities have made a stunning decision regarding the release of a “manifesto” belonging to the alleged assassin who murdered a top state Democrat and her husband early Saturday morning and attempted to kill a state senator and his spouse at their homes.

Despite the state’s residents and the American public demanding answers following the assassination of Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and the wounding of state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their home the same evening, state officials are refusing to release any information about the manifesto from the accused gunman, 57-year-old Vance Boelter.

After a two-day manhunt, Boelter was captured Sunday evening.

Boelter reportedly left behind a manifesto that named 70 politicians, including Walz, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, and members of the state’s congressional delegation.

Additionally, the alleged assassin had “No Kings” flyers in his vehicle, a reference to protests against President Trump that took place across the country on Saturday.

The discovery sparked concerns about a possible link to anti-Trump protests planned across the state, leading authorities to urge the public to steer clear of such demonstrations for safety reasons.

Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley confirmed that a manifesto recovered from the suspect’s vehicle listed several lawmakers and officials, including Melissa Hortman and John Hoffman, as intended targets.

The “No Kings” flyers, previously reported by the Minnesota State Patrol, have drawn scrutiny for their apparent connection to nationwide protests planned for Saturday that oppose Trump’s policies.

“When we did a search of the vehicle, we did find a manifesto that identified many lawmakers and other officials. We immediately made alerts to the state to provide security wherever necessary,” Bruley said in a press conference.

Authorities and officials, including Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, have condemned the shootings as “politically motivated” acts of violence.

Over the weekend, a news report featuring an interview with Hortman, who was visibly upset over a vote she cast against funding healthcare for illegal immigrants in her state, went viral online.

The video surfaced just a day after the shootings and murders. In the news report, Hortman was extremely emotional in describing how she voted against including the provision in a hard-fought budget deal with Republicans, who control the Minnesota House.

Some have speculated that she was “terrified” by her vote, which came just days before she was shot and killed.

Hortman was a member of the Democratic Farm Labor Party, which is affiliated with the national Democratic Party.

The decision to eliminate healthcare funding for illegal immigrants in the state came as the Minnesota program was experiencing severe cost overruns. But some have speculated online that the motive behind Hortman’s murder was her vote against the provision, making her the lone DFL member of her caucus to oppose it.

Bruley confirmed that a manifesto recovered from the suspect’s vehicle listed several lawmakers and officials, including Hortman and Hoffman, as intended targets. As of this writing, Minnesota authorities have not publicly speculated on a motive for the killings.
