Trump Calls For ‘Major Investigation’ Into Performers At Harris Campaign Events
President Donald Trump is demanding a “major investigation” into why several celebrities chose to support former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
The president also questioned whether megastars such as Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, and Bono were illegally paid for their endorsements under the guise of performance fees.
“HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT? WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCÉ? …AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO???” He wrote in a post on Truth Social.
“I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter. Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment. In addition, this was a very expensive and desperate effort to artificially build up her sparse crowds. IT’S NOT LEGAL! For these unpatriotic ‘entertainers,’ this was just a CORRUPT & UNLAWFUL way to capitalize on a broken system. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!” he added.
Following the sudden withdrawal of then-President Joe Biden from the race last July, Harris’s campaign organized several events that were attended by many celebrities during her four-month campaign against Trump.
Winfrey denied receiving payment to endorse Harris and claimed her production company was paid only to cover the incurred costs of events.
A few hours after his initial post on Monday, Trump sent another message in which he questioned whether artists received compensation for their support of Harris.
He notably mentioned Beyoncé, who appeared alongside Harris at a rally in Houston in October. Harris’s campaign attracted criticism after the singer appeared but did not perform.
“According to news reports, Beyoncé was paid $11,000,000 to walk onto a stage, quickly ENDORSE KAMALA, and walk off to loud booing for never having performed, NOT EVEN ONE SONG! Remember, the Democrats and Kamala illegally paid her millions of Dollars for doing nothing other than giving Kamala a full-throated ENDORSEMENT. THIS IS AN ILLEGAL ELECTION SCAM AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL! IT IS AN ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION!” Trump said.
“BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, OPRAH, BONO AND, PERHAPS, MANY OTHERS, HAVE A LOT OF EXPLAINING TO DO!!!” he added.
The Harris campaign has denied paying Beyoncé $10 million for an endorsement.
According to federal election commission documents, the Harris campaign paid $165,000 to Beyoncé’s production business, Parkwood Production Media LLC, following the Texas event. Such reimbursements are frequently connected with big event production expenditures (stage, sound, and lighting) that cannot be given to political campaigns.
Kamala Harris made headlines on Sunday when she responded after former President Joe Biden announced that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.
“Doug and I are saddened to learn of President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. We are keeping him, Dr. Biden, and their entire family in our hearts and prayers during this time,” Harris wrote in a post on the social platform X.
“Joe is a fighter — and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership. We are hopeful for a full and speedy recovery,” she continued.
Biden and his family “are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone. While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management,” Biden announced in a statement.
