Dem Goes On Profanity-Laced Tirade Against GOP Lawmaker On House Floor

Democratic Rep. John Mannion of New York directed a profane outburst at Republican Rep. Mike Lawler, also of New York, during a heated moment on the House floor Thursday.

The incident occurred following the passage of a $9.4 billion rescissions package, which aimed to roll back spending previously flagged as wasteful by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Mannion’s outburst unfolded in front of several members of Congress and at least two children who were present at the time.

“Fucking get over there and get some fucking balls!” Mannion screamed at Lawler.

According to Punchbowl News founder Jake Sherman, Mannion’s tirade was reportedly sparked by Lawler’s presence on the side of the House floor typically occupied by Democrats. Lawler later responded to the incident with a post on X Thursday.

“John Mannion was entirely unhinged and unprofessional,” Lawler said. “That was a shameful display that exposed his complete lack of temperament. No wonder numerous staffers have previously alleged a toxic work environment. He should go seek help for anger management — and fuck off.”

“I’m a kid from Tipp Hill that’s fighting for my hometown and my country. I’m giving everything I have to stop the rise of authoritarian government and the destruction of American democracy,” Mannion claimed — without evidence — in a statement to the Daily Caller.

“If making some noise on the house floor and calling out Trump enablers draws attention to what’s happening to our country right before our eyes – good,” he continued.

“Today, it’s roughing up and handcuffing a United States Senator and a politicized military patrolling the streets of American cities. It’s the willing abandonment of the rule of law and a gross fealty to a wannabe dictator who is tearing the country apart,” he said. “None of this is normal or okay. I’m always going to stand up and speak out and fight for the people of this country.”

The incident on the House floor occurred just hours after Democratic Senator Alex Padilla of California was briefly detained for attempting to disrupt a press conference held by Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem in Los Angeles.

The press conference followed riots that broke out after the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted an operation and President Trump’s federalization of the California National Guard to protect ICE agents and federal property — not to conduct civilian immigration and law enforcement activities, which is prevented by the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878.

Democrats have turned from complaining about tariffs, inflation, gas prices, and the price of eggs, all of which have been trending downward after Trump has only been in office for five months, to accusations of “authoritarianism” and “wanting to be a king.”

However, Trump has been attempting to utilize provisions of law and the Constitution to implement his policies, many of which have been blocked by federal courts, suggesting that he’s not acting dictatorially and that the American system of government is indeed functioning as designed.

By comparison, it is the Democrats who are suffering a crisis, as most Americans who identify with the party are dissatisfied with its performance.

According to a Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday, 53% of Democratic respondents disapproved of congressional Democrats’ job performance, while only 41% expressed approval.

Among all voters surveyed between June 5–8, just 21% approved of how Democrats in Congress are handling their roles, with 70% voicing disapproval.

The 21% approval rating matches the figure from Quinnipiac’s February national poll, tying “an all-time low since Quinnipiac University first asked this question of registered voters in March 2009.”
