Rudy Giuliani in critical condition in hospital – Trump makes claim

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and longtime Donald Trump ally Rudy Giuliani has been hospitalized with pneumonia at a Florida hospital and remains in “critical but stable condition,” according to his spokesperson Ted Goodman.

Goodman said the 81-year-old former mayor is being monitored as a “precautionary measure,” as per the Independent.

Giuliani, who served his term during the September 11 terror attacks, “ran toward the towers to help those in need, which later led to a diagnosis of restrictive airway disease,” Goodman wrote.

“This condition adds complications to any respiratory illness, and the virus quickly overwhelmed his body, requiring mechanical ventilation to maintain adequate oxygen and stabilize his condition,” he added.

Giuliani is “now breathing on his own, with his family and primary medical provider at his side,” Goodman said.

The announcement came just days after Giuliani appeared on his nightly America’s Mayor Live broadcast, where he was coughing and told viewers his voice was “a little under the weather.”

“My voice is a little under the weather, so I won’t be able to speak as loudly as I usually do, but I’ll get closer to the microphone,” he said.

President Donald Trump, whom Rudy Giuliani has long supported and defended, said on Truth Social that he believes Giuliani was the “Best Mayor in the History of New York City.”

Donald Trump also referenced his friend’s hospitalization to direct criticism at Democrats, implying they were somehow to blame.

“Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition,” Trump wrote.

“What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL — AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING! They cheated on the Elections, fabricated hundreds of stories, did anything possible to destroy our Nation, and now, look at Rudy. So sad!”

Rudy Giuliani, who led unsuccessful legal efforts to challenge Donald Trump’s defeat in the 2020 presidential election, has spent recent years navigating a series of legal battles, including criminal charges, bankruptcy proceedings, and a defamation case in the turbulent aftermath of the vote.

Last summer, he was injured in a car accident in New Hampshire that left him with a fractured vertebra, and he was later seen at public events using a wheelchair. Giuliani had previously served as a key legal adviser to Trump during his first term in office.

Now 81, he persistently promoted claims that the 2020 election had been stolen by Joe Biden, including at the “Stop the Steal” rally held before the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack. In the aftermath, courts in New York and Washington, D.C., revoked his license to practice law over those unsubstantiated claims, the Independent wrote. He was also sued for defamation by two Georgia election workers, a case that he reportedly settled last year.
