A family vacation in Pensacola turned into a heartbreaking tragedy when 16-year-old Bryce Brooks of Atlanta died after rushing into the water to help children caught in a strong current. A family friend, Charles Johnson II (“Uncle Chuck”), also died after entering the water to help.

According to Bryce’s father, Shivy Brooks, Bryce and a group of friends were near the water when they noticed four younger children struggling in the current.
